Nolte's
Offers To Help Brides Who Lost Gowns
Madelynn's
Bridal Shop Closed For Delinquent Taxes:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The owner of a Kansas City wedding
store is stepping up to help brides who lost their
dresses because an eastern Kansas bridal shop was shut
down by the state.
Madelynn's in Emporia was closed this week because the
store owes more than $97,000 in sales and withholding
taxes dating back to 2005, according to the Kansas
Department of Revenue.
Michael Nolte, who runs Nolte's Bridal shops in Kansas
City and Overland Park, has already started helping
frantic brides.
Nolte has been in the business nearly 30 years, and he
said he has the connections to...

-2008 So many people have encouraged me to
write
a book on wedding planning, the Michael Nolte way. But I'm
swamped all the time! When my friend, the legendary Mary
Carol Gerrity, invited me to satisfy her publisher's request
for a book on just that subject...I gratefully accepted.
Mary Carol wrote all the advice about colors and theme
(truly her niche) and I wrote the sections that deal with
the logistics and specifics of pulling it together...on any
budget. "Stylish Weddings" launched with a two day book
signing and makes a wonderful engagement gift at 24.95. They
are available at both our stores as well at Nell Hill's in
Briarcliff Village. Please don't be shy about asking us both
to inscribe it for you! |

-2008 Junior Women's Symphony Alliance:
The
Symphony League invited Nolte's Bridal to exhibit gowns at
the restored mansion on Ward Parkway, during their busiest
weekend of Mother's Day. In the mansion were both mannequins
and live models wearing my evening gowns. In a tent on the
back lawn I spent the afternoon signing "Stylish Weddings"
books and visiting with the tour goers. It was a fun "give
back" day to the community. |

 Scandia
Down AD (PDF)
Article:
Scandia Down (our city's leading source for high end
bedding) ran an ad campaign featuring celebrities from the
community "between the sheets." Every month the city looked
forward to see who was featured. I was flabbergasted to be
invited and even more so when I learned it would be a spoof
on the "Vanity Fair" cover featuring Tom Ford of Gucci with
Scarlet Johansson and Keria Knightly. I told my assistant I
was "dropping by" the studio that handled the shoot, not
realizing it would be an all day effort with make-up, hair,
lighting and hours of posing. This particular lay-out won
awards for Scandia Down and was on the newstands in seven
magazines at one time. It was a lot of fun for me personally
as I had suggested Jane and Kate, both my real brides, who
afterwards had fabulous, fabulous weddings. I received SO
much grief from my buddies about a "tough job somebody's got
to do!" Scandia Down's owner, Ursula Terrasi, hosted a
wonderful launch party to unveil the ad and it ran for
several months. |
